We are all constantly being urged by health scientists, gym instructors and our loved ones to try and lose some weight. HCA is believed to raise the levels of Serotonin, the brain’s natural feel good chemical. Many people comfort eat when depressed or anxious. The natural elevation of Serotonin reduces this happening.

While there is no doubt that Garcinia Cambogia does have health and weight benefits, how it is taken is very important.

Generally speaking users ingest the ingredient in tablet form. The most common levels of HCA are 500-100mg before each meal. Health experts advise that no one takes more than 3000mg on any one day.

Like any vitamin, supplement or trace element, taking larger amounts than needed will have no additional benefit. In fact there is research indicating that at high levels Garcinia Cambogia can result in adverse side-effects.

Also, that the person who is taking Garcinia supplements cannot just take the pills in isolation. They need to ensure that they are also eating regular meal portions and exercising frequently, several times a week.

Caution for certain conditions

When it comes to exceptions to the rule on taking Garcinia Cambogia, on people taking certain other medications for diabetes, cholesterol lowering (statin-reducing) and who have Alzheimer’s should consult their doctor before taking any of the Garcinia extract at any level.

For Alzheimer’s patients, taking the supplement has resulted in a worsening of the condition. For diabetes sufferers their blood sugar levels have dropped too low (given their tablets or regimes focus on lowering blood sugar levels). In terms of patients who are taking statin-drugs for lowering high cholesterol, ingesting Garcinia can potentially cause muscle degradation and kidney damage.

Results Expected After Taking Garcinia Cambogia for a Month

When it comes to the efficacy of the supplement, results generally range form 1-4 pounds weight loss in a month.

However, new research appears to indicate that the supplement does not have quite the appetite suppressant qualities it promised, at least not for everyone.

Whatever the case, it does appear to be a natural drug that assists in weight loss, in conjunction with regular exercise and healthy, balanced meals.
